The Facilities Planner will have the primary role of providing administrative and technical services related to the physical planning of the university and the development of new and renovated campus facilities. The position will share in the responsibilities for campus stewardship through management, coordination, logistics and development of campus planning projects, including space plans, master plans, facility programs and capital plans. 


Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical and administrative support in the formulation and development of space utilization studies, space needs assessment studies, facility reallocation plans and space scenario planning studies. Involves planning and performing field audits to verify room type, department, room use (per NCES Facilities Inventory Classification Manual codes) and existing configurations. Requires development of facility/space scenarios, conceptual and preparation of presentation graphics.

  • Provide technical and administrative support in the planning and programming efforts that support and advance the university’s master plan and capital improvement plans. Involves the preparation of graphics and other supporting documentation for facility programs, master planning studies and other long-range planning documents.

  • Retrieve and utilize various datasets to analyze and develop strategies in support of planning projects.

  • Provides architectural and technical support to other team member in the  maintenance, update, creation, and dissemination of university facilities floor plans; implementation of CAD drawing procedures and standards; and coordination efforts with the Facilities Management organization and external consultants that require CAD plans.

  • Generate graphics for reports and presentations and other ad hoc requests in support of the maintenance, operation, planning, design and construction of campus facilities.

  • Coordinate with Project Managers on capital construction projects to ensure room numbering assignments adhere to the university standard. Assign room numbers for renovation and new construction projects, as well as campus departmental relocations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
