Assistant Professor or Associate Professor of Literacy Education
Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor of Literacy Education faculty position in the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education that begins August 2023.
Responsibilities Include
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate literacy education courses, and other related courses as needed
- Modeling effective teaching practices
- Service to the department, college, university, community, and profession
- Maintaining active research and scholarship agenda
Other responsibilities may include
- Program development and assessment
- Dissertation/thesis supervision
- Student teaching/clinical supervision
- Working with a diverse community
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications Include
- An earned doctorate, or the foreign equivalent, in literacy, reading, elementary education, curriculum instruction, inclusive education, or closely related field with 18 hours in literacy/reading, completed by 8/1/2023
- At least three years of teaching experience in PK-5 settings
- Demonstrated content expertise in elementary literacy, including K-2 reading development, assessment, and instruction with knowledge of Response to Intervention and evidence-based practices (e.g., science of reading)
Preferred Qualifications Include
- Expertise and/or experience with Dyslexia and related literacy disorders
- Record of research and/or teaching that contributes to diversity, equity, inclusion, or disability justice as it relates to early childhood/elementary language and literacy education.
- Evidence of a focused research agenda for advancing knowledge in the field of language and literacy education.
- Experience teaching at the university level.
- Evidence or experience teaching and developing online courses.
- Evidence of a commitment to working in an environment that values diversity, inclusion, and collaboration.
