The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Rowan University invites applicants for tenure-track or tenured position(s) at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. We seek outstanding candidates who have a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, or a closely related discipline. Successful candidates are expected to develop and maintain an active, highly visible, externally-funded research program with outstanding scholarship and to demonstrate excellence in teaching and mentoring both undergraduate and graduate students. The areas of expertise are open, encompassing all research areas of the biomedical engineering field. Senior-level candidates with exceptional achievements and demonstrated impact will have the opportunity to be considered for the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering Foundation Professorship.

The Department of Biomedical Engineering is part of both the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering and the newly established Rowan-Virtua School of Translational Biomedical Engineering and Sciences, and encourages transformative, interdisciplinary, and translational research. This position may involve a primary or joint appointment in either of these entities to align with the applicant’s research program. We seek individuals who value collaborative and interdisciplinary work.

The College of Engineering has undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical and Computer, and Mechanical Engineering. Biomedical Engineering is our newest department and is in a period of substantial growth. The School of Translational Biomedical Engineering & Sciences is part of a new academic health partnership that will further distinguish Rowan and Virtua Health as leaders in patient care, innovation, research, and clinical discovery. Consisting of multiple interdisciplinary institutes alongside academic departments in Biomedical Engineering and life sciences, the School is one of twelve Colleges and Schools at Rowan University, and is uniquely positioned to integrate engineering, life sciences, and medicine to be a national leader in health care discovery and innovation, leveraging the synergy of research and patient care. Rowan is also home to the South Jersey Technology Park and a business incubator, which fosters the translation of applied research into commercial products and processes.

Major metropolitan areas within the Northeast Corridor are within easy reach of Glassboro. Philadelphia is a thirty minute drive, New York City and Washington, D.C. are less than three hours away, and Jersey beaches are only an hour drive.
