Job Details

The Webb University Center at Old Dominion University is seeking candidates for a Program Admin Specialist I (full-time, 12 month) position. This position provides crucial support for the existing staff and management by assisting with operations and event management, safety and emergency management of the Webb University Center, Priority Club, and Broderick Dining Commons during the nights and weekends.

Required Education: Considerable knowledge of the practices and procedures related to the scheduling, set-up and turnover of meeting spaces.

Required Qualifications: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software. Extensive knowledge of effective customer service and problem resolution techniques. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Good presentation skills. Effective time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a professional manner with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and campus visitors. Demonstrated ability to organize and maintain accurate records. Demonstrated ability to work a flexible schedule composed primarily of evening, night, and weekend hours. Demonstrated ability to explain policies, procedures, event types and equipment uses to customers. Demonstrated ability to interview, hire, train, and supervise student staff. Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and problem solve which balance customers as well as operations. Demonstrated some supervisory skills.  Demonstrated ability to learn new applications.

Preferred Qualifications: Considerable experience in a similar setting (event management, planning, and training). Some experience leading or supervising others. Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, education, hospitality management or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience teaching, coaching or training others. Demonstrated ability to work independently of direct supervision.

Conditions of Employment: This is considered an essential position requiring work on nights, weekends, school closures, and special events. This position is designated as sensitive. A fingerprint -based criminal history check will be required of the final candidate.
