Job Details
Southern Arkansas University (SAU) is seeking applicants for a non-tenure track Instructor of Design/ Theatre Tech position for Spring 2023. Housed in the Department of Performing Arts and Mass Communication, the Theatre program offers B.F.A. degrees in Performance with emphases in the Theatre and Musical Theatre.
Duties: Teach 12 credit hours a semester in technical theatre and design to including classes such as; Production Run Crew, Stagecraft, Fundamentals of Entertainment Design, Business of Design, Production and other courses based on applicants area of specialty; overseeing the design and execution of all technical elements for departmental productions and teaching design/tech courses at both the beginning and advanced levels and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: B.F.A. in Technical Theatre required; MFA or equivalent terminal degree in Theatre Design and/or Theatre Production preferred; Extensive design and/or production credits at the academic and/or professional levels; outstanding communication and collaboration skills and abilities; two or more years of college teaching experience preferred; demonstrated skill and evidence as a scenic designer and technical director preferred; professional and academic memberships or certifications preferred; record of community-engaged teaching or extra-curricular activities preferred.
