Position Summary
Enrollment Services is comprised of Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions, Office of the Registrar, Prospective Student Services, Class Schedule, and Communications. Enrollment Services implements SDSU enrollment management policies and provides services to students from their initial point of interest in SDSU to their graduation.
The Office of Admissions is organized into the following areas; Admissions Processing Unit, Freshmen Admission, Transfer Admission, Graduate Admission and Specialized Admission (Athletes & International).
The function of the Admissions Eligibility Unit (AEU) is to perform various tasks related to the admission review of approximately 65,000 first-time freshmen applications to determine CSU admission eligibility. AEU is also responsible for evaluating high school transcripts and test scores throughout the admission process to calculate grade point averages and verify admission eligibility. AEU also determines residency status of all undergraduate applicants.
In consultation with management, the Admission Eligibility Unit Lead is responsible for performing administrative duties by setting goals and objectives, defining priorities and monitoring workflow for the Admissions Eligibility Unit to ensure all tasks are completed accurately and by established deadlines. Additional responsibilities include staff training, coordinating time off requests, provide feedback for performance evaluations, analysis of tasks and developing written procedures, compiling data, preparing department reports and proposing enhancements to the Student Information System, PeopleSoft/Campus Solutions. The Admission Eligibility Unit Lead will have frequent interpersonal contacts with students, parents, faculty, staff, administrators and the public. The Admission Eligibility Unit Lead exercises a high level of advising and counseling skills and a comprehensive knowledge of Enrollment Services procedures in support of University goals.

Full-time, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
This position is physically located at the SDSU Main Campus in San Diego.
Education and Experience
Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field; including or supplemented by upper division or graduate coursework in counseling techniques, interviewing and conflict resolution where such are job related.
Experience: Possession of the required knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience. One year in the program area to which assigned may be preferred but is not required.
A Master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience. A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional career or personal counseling.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working in university admissions, advising or student services setting at a California State University.
Experience working with staff, monitoring work assignments and developing and implementing procedures.
Experience using student information systems (PeopleSoft/Campus Solutions).
Experience reviewing transcripts and calculating grade point averages.
Knowledge and understanding of CSU and SDSU selective admissions requirements.
Specialized Skills
Three years professional work experience in a university setting in admissions, advising, evaluations or other student service related office.
Experience interpreting and effectively explaining academic policies governing a public or private university.
Strong communication skills including experience providing presentations to small and large groups.
Experience with MS Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Experience with supervising or leading a team.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,691 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,691 - $6,683 per month.
SDSU Vaccine Policy
In accordance with the California State University systemwide policy, students, faculty, and staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a valid medical or religious exemption in order to access campus. An individual is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose of a two-shot vaccine or two weeks after the first dose of a single-shot vaccine. Afterward a COVID-19 booster is required to continue to be considered fully vaccinated.
The individual hired into this role will be required to submit their completed vaccination documentation to the university's secure online health portal prior to beginning work. Individuals with an approved medical or religious exemption on file with the university will be required to participate in SDSU's COVID-19 testing program.
