NSF's Directorate for STEM Education (EDU), formerly the Directorate for Education and Human Resources (EHR)), is seeking a candidate for Deputy Division Director for the Division of Research on Learning in Formal and Informal Settings (DRL). DRL embraces a comprehensive approach to strengthening STEM education by investing in innovative research, development, and evaluation of learning and teaching across all STEM disciplines, with the goal of transforming STEM knowledge and practices in both formal, including K-12, and informal learning settings. Broadly speaking, the Directorate provides research based national leadership in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) learning and education. Information about the Directorate's activities may be found at: https://www.nsf.gov/div/index.jsp?div=DRL.

The Deputy Division Director works closely with the Division Director in providing leadership and direction to the Division, and the incumbent provides leadership, with the Division Director, in carrying out division wide responsibilities, including strategic planning and management; developing future program directions; overseeing the competitive review of proposals for awards and declinations; fostering partnerships within NSF other Federal agencies, the academic community, and industry; budget preparation for submission to Congress; and staff recruitment, supervision, and performance reviews.

Appointment to this Senior Executive Service position may be on a career basis, or on a one- to three-year limited-term basis, with a salary range of $178,063 to $198,800.  Alternatively, the incumbent may be assigned the position under the Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) provisions. The job opportunity announcement, EDU-EXEC-2023-0002, with position requirements and application procedures, is located at https://www.usajobs.gov/job/682546000.
