Duties and Responsibilities

Loyola University Chicago’s Quinlan School of Business invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured position in the Economics Department. This appointment, starting Fall 2023, will be made at the Assistant Professor level. Qualified candidates should have a primary focus in applied microeconomics. The deadline for full consideration is December 15, 2022.

Fields of Emphasis: Preference will be given to experience in managerial economics and data analytics. Teaching experience and knowledge of data mining tools such as R, Python, Tableau, etc. are desirable. JEL Classifications: Primary: D04 Microeconomic Policy: Formulation, Implementation, and Evaluation; D22 Firm Behavior: Empirical Analysis; D24 Production Cost Capital, Factor Productivity; C13 Estimation General; C55 Large Data Sets Modeling and Analysis; Secondary: H00 Public Economics: General; I3 Welfare, Well-Being, and Poverty;D31 Personal Income, Wealth, and Its Distribution; D63 Equity, Justice, Inequality, and Other Normative Criteria and Measurement;

The position’s main responsibilities include:

Research: Candidates will be expected to publish in well-regarded academic journals. Quinlan values high quality research, research that spans multiple disciplines and research that promotes the University’s mission.

Teaching: Candidates should be able to teach upper-division undergraduate courses as well as other courses in the graduate programs depending on specialization and departmental needs. The Quinlan School of Business is AACSB accredited and offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees ( MBA, and specialty Masters). The pre-tenure teaching load for tenure-track faculty in the Quinlan is 4 courses per year.

Service: Faculty serve on Departmental, School and University committees and mentor students.
