Position Summary

The Department of Physical Therapy at Slippery Rock University is seeking applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in our well-established, three year, fully accredited Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. Slippery Rock University is one of 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, offering an excellent salary structure, a comprehensive benefits package, and an exceptional retirement program. Responsibilities will include teaching in the area of physical therapy assessment and procedures, the faculty member’s area of expertise, and areas of need within the department’s curriculum. Other responsibilities include service at the department, college, university, and professional levels, student advising, and pursuit of scholarly activity through research, publications and professional presentations. All faculty must comply with accreditation requirements of the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education ( CAPTE ).

Minimum Qualifications

Current unrestricted license or eligibility for PT licensure in Pennsylvania.
Current clinical practice.
Doctoral preparation with a DPT, PhD, EdD, or other earned doctoral degree.
Content expertise and clinical experience in the areas of physical therapy assessment and procedures.
Successful candidate must possess strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and mentoring skills.
Candidate must demonstrate a commitment to the education of diverse populations.
Successful performance in an interview and teaching demonstration is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Contemporary expertise beyond that obtained in an entry-level physical therapy program.
Ability to teach in one or more of the following content/practice areas: prosthetics rehabilitation/training, orthotics, pediatrics, or other areas of contemporary expertise.
Strong interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and commitment to contribute to the department and the university.
Teaching experience with evidence of strong teaching skills and use of instructional technology.
Experience teaching in a graduate-level physical therapy program.
Evidence of commitment to a scholarly agenda, community engagement, and professional advocacy.
Advanced training or board certification in area of expertise.
Academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or other).
