Purpose: The Financial Aid Receptionist supports the daily operations of the office by serving as a first point of contact for students and families, and by assisting the counselors with the administration of financial aid and document processing.
Essential Functions:
- Greet office visitors and ensure that the reception desk is covered during office hours
- Answer general financial aid questions in-person and respond general email and telephone inquiries.
- Manage the general financial aid email account, reply to general questions, and filter emails to appropriate staff members
- Process incoming mail and documents submitted via upload, fax, and email and record receipt of documents in PowerFaids
- Prepare outgoing mailings
- Assist in the management of the office student employees
- Prepare mass email correspondence to students and families
- Track inventory of office supplies and re-order supplies as necessary
- Track inventory of financial aid printed materials
- Participate in College events to provide information on financial aid matters
- Perform other duties/tasks as assigned by the Director and Assoc. Director
- Position will require occasional weekend and evening hours
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- Effective and professional communication skills both verbally and in writing
- Possess patience and empathy for students and parents by remaining congenial and respectful under stressful conditions while treating others with dignity and respect
- Student-focused and collaborative, a cooperative attitude
- Responsive and accessible by responding promptly with appropriate follow through
- Analytical skills for the review of documents and student files
- Computer skills and experience in data entry
- Proficiency in mathematics
- Organizational skills and accurate record keeping/data entry
- Ability to multi-task and work in an environment with frequent interruptions
- Prior financial aid experience preferred
