The Ohio State University College of Social Work invites applications for four clinical-track faculty positions (open rank) beginning in July 2023. The dean has charged the search committee with identifying exceptional candidates who contribute to the diversity of teaching and service conducted at the college. Substantive expertise and experience in content areas such as substance use disorders (SUDs), general clinical (therapy) experience, child services settings, community and social justice, technology and practice, and research methods is desirable, but exceptional candidates in other areas may also be considered. Positions are 12-month appointments.

 

Job Description

Clinical faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor, and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member’s college unit and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include teaching, curriculum development, curriculum initiation, and service to the college.  These faculty will have earned master or doctorate in social work or in the relevant field of study and have minimum of five years of practice experience upon initial hire.

 

Candidates should be motivated to take the lead in implementing new curriculum, thus experience with implementing and leading changes in curriculum is preferred. [Note – curriculum includes both explicit/implicit.] We seek candidates who are committed to excellence in teaching and mentoring students, particularly diverse student populations including first-generation college students. The college provides innovative teaching options at the BSSW, MSW, and PhD levels, including traditional, online, and hybrid methods. Candidates are expected to show mastery of effective, student-centered online teaching.
