The Department of Economics at California State University San Marcos invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level with expertise in either Health or Labor Economics. The successful candidate is expected to teach courses in their specialization as well as Econometrics. The successful candidate will also maintain an active research agenda and contribute to the Department, College, and University through service.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $6,834 - $7,250 per month

CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,405 - $11,994 per month

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Economics with specialization in Health Economics and/or Labor Economics, from an accredited university at the time of appointment for this position.
  • Applicants with ABD status will be considered, but the applicant must possess a Ph.D. degree on the starting date.
  • Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate economics courses including those in the applicant’s fields of specialization and Econometrics.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to teaching at the undergraduate level.
  • Applicants must have an active research program in Health Economics and/or Labor Economics.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level and commitment to teaching the department’s core curriculum.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with strong research potential in economics.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Timeline:

A review of applications will begin on November 14, 2023 and will continue until the position is filled. The appointment will begin Fall 2023.
