Title: Principal Financial Analyst

Position Summary: Records and reconciles transactions of the daily financial operations for the college, including fiscal year closings and preparing financial statements and schedules, and budget preparation. Assists with the preparation of the financial reports, schedules and footnotes for the college. Assists in verifying that the accounting records are maintained in accordance with governing policies, procedures, and regulations. Performs bank reconciliations. Assists with the schedules and footnotes for the year-end financial reporting for the college. Grant accounting. Assists Assistant Director with BDMS system.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists with the preparation of the annual financial statements and schedules for college and the foundation.

Prepares the monthly financial statements for the foundation.

Prepares and maintains student processes and reporting, as requested, including processing students dropped from classes for non-payment.

Maintain the monthly insurance reconciliation, as needed.

Assist with student accounts receivable and inquiries regarding stale checks and purge issues.

Build detail codes for the student system as requested.

Record financial transactions of the foundation, including scholarship billing, in kind gift transactions and monthly investment reconciliations, monthly financial reports and other reports as requested.

Works closely with the foundation staff to ensure the accuracy of financial transactions and reporting.

Assists with cash management including preparing monthly bank reconciliations for all entities and daily reporting bank balances to relevant parties.

Maintains confidentiality of information and works in accordance with FERPA guidelines on the information disclosure.

Works with internal and external auditors, as requested.

Maintains a good working relationship with college and foundation staff.

Maintains and reports unclaimed property records.

Review and reconcile funds, accounts and programs - especially restricted, agency and foundation funds, correct use of program codes and others as assigned.

Prepares college, TBR and THEC reports, as requested.

Reconcile accounts, prepare and post adjusting entries: including year-end allocations, collections awaiting distribution account, review of funds, to correct negative balances and others as requested.

Maintains Banner and related reporting systems to assure the systems function properly and accurately. Attends training sessions, tests, and implements new versions of Banner, or other software as needed.

Use the college report writer and other tools to assist in financial reporting.

Assists with student inquiries and cashiering as needed.

Willingness to assist as needed with Business Office functions.

Cross training with other staff to fill in as needed, including assisting with student accounts receivable, cashiering, financial aid disbursement as requested.

Participates in committee meetings as assigned.

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting. Five (5) years of progressive accounting responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications: Governmental accounting or auditing in higher education setting. Experience with Ellucian Banner ERP system and grant accounting a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Work Characteristics: Must demonstrate excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Must be committed to a positive customer service philosophy and willingness to work with others. Must have knowledge and experience using a large ERP system. Must demonstrate advanced skill level using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Internet. Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and procedures of financial record keeping and reporting. Must have proven problem solving ability and skills. Ability to learn and document accounting processes. Confident in using own initiative, prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines. Detail oriented with proven analytical and organizational skills.

Pay Rate: 44,090.00 - 55,120.00 annual salary depending on experience
