POSITION:              NETWORK AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT SPECIALIST

DEPARTMENT:       INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

DIVISION:                OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT

Responsibilities: Under the occasional supervision of the Network Manager, the Network and Technical Support Specialist will deploy and maintain IT network infrastructure for the JCSU campus and Smith House. The Network and Technical Support Specialist will collect network performance data, monitor network security, and optimize server capacity to manage the flow of information. They also perform network upgrades and fix network errors. The Network and Technical Support Specialist will focus on developing the JCSU student network experience.

Qualifications: BA/BS and 2 years of PC, networking or server support, or if equivalent in education and experience. Proficiency in CISCO and equivalent networking equipment and technologies; proficiency in Microsoft Windows operating system. Skilled in Microsoft Windows Server 2008, 2016, and 2020, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008 In a clustered environment. Demonstrated knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, 802.1x, and DHCP protocols. Demonstrated knowledge of Windows and Linux Servers, Server Operations, Server applications, etc. Demonstrated knowledge with both physical and virtualized servers, especially Hyper-V; Strong service orientation is essential; strong organizational and communication skills are important to deal with varied and high-level user contact.

The position requires superior organizing and coordination skills, in addition to technical knowledge of hardware/software used in University classrooms, knowledge of web collaboration tools, expertise in PCs, Macs and printers with the ability to troubleshoot problems accurately.
