POSITION:                HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director of Talent Management, the Human Resources (HR) Generalist supports the University’s talent acquisition and talent management programs. Manages a comprehensive employment delivery system; coordinates faculty and staff employment; assists hiring managers in developing strategic advertisement plans for current vacancies. Advertises and posts job descriptions for vacant positions; updates the HR web page and employment job line; receives and logs resumes and applications; refer to appropriate departments; tracks and reports on metrics related to the institutional and departmental strategic plans including, but not limited to time to hire, turnover, professional development, and retention. The HR Generalist performs both strategic and tactical responsibilities in the day-to-day operation of the human resources office; assists in the coordination of human resources activities such as recruitment; onboarding; orientation and other employment programs; assists in maintaining the human resources information system; tracks and reports on metrics related to institutional and departmental strategic plans; assists with all benefit plans available to University employees, including but not limited to, health, dental and life insurance, STD, LTD, worker’s compensation and Section 125 plans. The HR Generalist will perform administrative work and special projects as required. Performs general clerical duties, such as typing reports and correspondence, copying and filing documents, scheduling appointments and meetings, entering computer data, ordering office supplies, faxing information, etc. Prepares and/or submits a variety of documents for approval such as personnel requisitions, recommendations to hire, resume logs, advertisements, new hire paperwork, memos, correspondence, etc., utilizing electronic systems including DocuSign. Requests applicant background checks; administers clerical tests for applicants; prepares offer/rejection letters with accuracy and promptness.

Qualifications: This position requires a bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field and a minimum of two years of human resources experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. PHR preferred. The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem-solving, independent judgment, and communication (verbal and written) skills. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Ability to multi-task. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality at all times. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.  Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
