The Division of Music in the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University invites applications for a Lecturer in Musicology position to begin August 2023. We seek a motivated, innovative, and affable teacher and colleague. The position carries a load of four courses per semester, but typically will consist of three preps. Primary courses to be taught include Introduction to Music in History and Culture, Introduction to Music in World Societies, and Introduction to Graduate Studies. Other topics, including seminars in the applicant’s area of expertise, may be possible as needed and/or feasible. The position carries no research production expectations and minimal service duties (e.g., departmental and divisional meetings).

 Minimum qualifications: ABD in Musicology, Ethnomusicology, or related field by August 1, 2023; expertise in topics of courses to be taught; demonstrated potential as a teacher.

 Preferred Qualifications: Completed Ph.D. in Musicology, Ethnomusicology, or related field by August 1, 2023; proven success in teaching topics in question at undergraduate and/or graduate level.
