Position Title: Assistant/Associate Professor of Special Education Administration
Summary: The College of Education and Community Innovation at Grand Valley State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Special Education Administration beginning August, 2023. Qualifications include a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field. Primary responsibilities include: Undertake the role of Graduate Program Director, teach graduate courses in the Special Education Administration program, supervise graduate student research, pursue scholarly interests; and provide service to the university, profession, and community. Required Qualifications and Education:
⦁ Michigan Department of Education (MDE) Special Education Director approval
⦁ Special education administrator experience
⦁ Willingness to travel to all GVSU sites for instruction
Preferred Qualifications and Education:
⦁ University teaching at the graduate level
⦁ Willingness to teach using multimedia modes of instruction including Blackboard, PowerPoint or Google Slides, video streaming, etc.
⦁ Effective communication and interpersonal skills
⦁ Evidence of accomplishment or strong potential of success in research, publication, grant writing, or scholarly writing
⦁ Evidence of skills in curriculum development, assessment of college/university student learning and Higher Education accreditation
Responsibilities – Essential Functions:
⦁ Teach graduate course equivalents each semester in the Special Education Administration Program, to include traditional courses, practica, and capstone projects
⦁ Serve in the capacity of Graduate Program Director for the M.Ed Special Education Administration
⦁ Pursue scholarly activities such as research, writing for publication, and professional presentations
⦁ Provide service to the institution (GVSU), profession, and community
⦁ Advise program students
⦁ Direct Special Education Administration program to include faculty placements, curriculum planning, and program accreditation work
Salary: Commensurate with experience
