POSITION:    Assistant Teaching Professor of History (full-time, renewable, non-tenure track), with a specialization in any field of modern European History. Course load is 12 credits/semester (4 class sections). Ability to teach introductory general education coursework in European History and in one other field required. Area of specialization is open, but instructor must demonstrate ability to teach gender- and race/ethnicity-themed classes. A global perspective on history is desirable. 

DUTIES:    
•    Teach introductory general education coursework in European History and in one other field (such as World, African, or Middle Eastern History)
•    Teach upper-level seminar coursework in one’s fields of interest
•    Teach both in-person and online (asynchronous) sections
•    Student academic advising and campus committee work after the first probationary year
•    Assist students with research and career advice in your field
•    Continuing scholarly activity in the field of European history
•    Administrative service to History program, the Social Inquiry Department, and the university 
•    This position requires an on-campus presence 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
•     Ph.D. in European History or related field by time of contract
•    Ability to teach broadly within European History at both introductory and upper level 
•    Ability to teach gender- and race/ethnicity-themed courses
•    Second introductory teaching field outside of European History 
•    University level teaching experiences  
•    Demonstrated ability to effectively work with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity

This position is currently ineligible for H1-B sponsorship. A qualification for this position includes independent eligibility to work within the United States upon hire date.

SALARY:    Salary range for this position is: $51,000 - $56,000 annually.  Additionally, UWS offers a competitive salary and benefits package including health insurance coverage for eligible dependents. Learn more here:
