Position Summary
New Mexico Highlands University ( NMHU ) is offering a per-course faculty faculty position in Spanish in the Department of Languages and Culture Studies.
The Department presently offers studies in American Sign Language, a minor in Native American/Hispano Cultural Studies and undergraduate degrees and minors in Spanish. We are interested in building a high quality applied modern language and culture program with a focus on bilingual and bi-literacy workplace skills leading to career opportunities, particularly for heritage language students, in language revitalization and in cultural studies analysis.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct class, meet with students, develop syllabi and course content.
Minimum Qualifications
MA degree in Spanish/Bilingual Ed or combination teaching experience and Masters level work.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D, or ABD in Spanish, Bilingual Education, demonstrated experience in teaching Spanish heritage language learners as a Spanish teacher in k-12 or higher ed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bilingual—Spanish/English, able to troubleshoot technology, able to use Zoom, BrightSpace or similar LMS /technology platforms.
