The University of Alabama School of Social Work invites applications for one (1) faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice (Renewable Contract, Non Tenure-track) that will also serve as MSW Program Director to begin August 16, 2023. 

The MSW Program Director is a full-time, 9-month faculty line with an administrative stipend and three-year renewable appointment. In addition to administrative leadership of the MSW Program and instruction, the successful candidate will engage in teaching, scholarship of professional practice, profession-related community engagement, and service to the School, University, and profession. 

The UA MSW Program is ranked in the top 20% of social work programs in the nation by U.S. News & World Report and was the first public MSW degree in Alabama accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. The MSW program is one of the largest social work programs in Alabama, graduating students from Campus and Distance Learning options. The program offers a trauma-focused, social justice-infused curriculum.

We are looking for candidates with social work practice, teaching, and administrative experience who can advance our commitment to racial equity and social justice. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to student-centered pedagogy and engaged learning and have online teaching and course development experience.

Successful candidates must have an MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited institution, at least three years of post-MSW social work experience, and a doctoral degree. A DSW or PhD in social work degree is preferred, though a doctoral degree in a related discipline will be considered.
