The Director of Infrastructure and Database leads all Division of IT, data center, storage, server, virtualization, and database solutions at the Colorado State University Fort Collins campus and additional services throughout the Colorado State University System (Colorado State University-Pueblo, Colorado State University-Global Campus). Infrastructure and database services are foundational for technical services supporting, students, faculty and staff by providing robust, stable and secure infrastructure.
 

The Director oversees a team of approximately 12 full time staff and has budget oversight of approximately $2.5m annually. This area comprises 2 core teams: Infrastructure and Database. The Director is responsible for aligning these teams to divisional and university strategic goals and objectives. The Director is responsible for developing and maintaining a high-performing team of dedicated professionals with the skills, drive, and capacity necessary to deliver an exceptional customer experience and to enable the university’s education, research, service and extension missions.
 

This position is responsible for developing and maintaining business plans to deliver services to the CSU-Ft. Collins campus community. This position must partner closely with many units within the Division of IT and across campus, key partners such as College IT Directors, Networking, Vice President for Research Office and external partners.

Required Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or similar degree OR any bachelor’s degree plus two years of professional experience. Candidates with a High School Diploma (or GED) and equivalent related professional experience will be considered for employment (without the required bachelors or other post-secondary education).
  • Experience leading infrastructure, database or similar services.
  • Knowledge of budget, finance and project management
  • Demonstrated track record of developing and implementing successful customer-centric services and/or engagement strategies.
  • Experience in building teams, coaching staff and establishing goals
  • Demonstrated experience with interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to work across the organization, lead cross-functional teams, and influence without direct authority.
     

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience engineering and administering storage, server, virtualization and database platforms in an enterprise or research environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale technology implementations
  • Experience establishing policies, standard operating procedures, and best practices related to networking, storage, servers and databases.
  • Ability to evaluate overarching business needs and goals in order to formulate information availability and data analytics strategies in support of those needs and goals and ensuring continuous improvement for the entire data and analytics space by maintaining current knowledge of business priorities, challenges, and opportunities.
