Under the general guidance of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in the Division of IT, this position leads and manages the operational, financial, and personnel activities of the Cybersecurity Services group, whose mission is to provide security and identity management services to the CSU Fort Collins community and to support systems delivering consistent and best-practice security and identity management services for the CSU System. This position reports directly to the CISO.

As the Director of Cybersecurity Services, this position is responsible for developing business plans and for monitoring operations budgets exceeding $1 million annually from a variety of sources (including central funding, chargebacks and state funding). This position is responsible for group-specific policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines to ensure cost-effective, best-practice operations and customer-focused delivery of services. This position is also responsible for identifying resources needed for all group functions and services, determining staffing needs, recruiting, training, developing and retaining professional and student staff, and managing all group staffing resources.

This position will provide leadership and oversight for the delivery of Identity & Access Management; User Training & Awareness; Incident Management; and Security Governance, Risk & Compliance. This includes 9 professional team members and 10 – 15 student employees. This position will lead, manage, and provide oversight for campus IT projects including advanced systems, hardware, and software covering both security and identity management. The position also works together with the Director of Networking to coordinate activities of the cross-Divisional Cybersecurity Services Team.

This position aids and advises the CISO on priorities, finances, capital purchases, business opportunities, and customer service issues. This position contributes to developing and implementing divisional identity and security policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines. This position also participates in Division-wide strategic planning efforts, and develops and manages tactical and operational plans and projects which support the Division’s strategic goals and objectives.

As a member of the Divisional Leadership Team, this position is responsible for proposing policies and procedures related to the overall direction and mission of the Division. This position ensures that division-wide policies, programs, and principles are implemented, measured, and improved for greater organizational effectiveness, security stance, and employee satisfaction. The position is responsible for aligning group plans with Divisional, campus, and CSU System strategic and operational goals.

Required Job Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or similar degree OR any bachelor’s degree plus two years of professional experience. Candidates with a High School Diploma (or GED) and equivalent related professional experience will be considered for employment (without the required bachelors or other post-secondary education).
• Experience leading complex or multi-faceted technology operations towards achieving strategic goals and priorities
• Knowledge of budget, finance and project management
• Knowledge of current theories and principles of security and identity management
• Experience in building teams that work effectively to accomplish a goal
• Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to the hiring of new employees including Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity, and state classified rules
• Knowledge of CSU’s Principles of Community and initiatives supporting Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Preferred Job Qualifications

• Knowledge of techniques used to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and customers
• Knowledge of effective methods of written and oral communications
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with a high degree of energy, initiative and personal ability
• Knowledge of the techniques and theory for supervision of professional and student staff
