The Psy.D. program provides generalist, practitioner-scientist training. Students also select to receive additional training in one or more tracks: Child and Adolescent, Individuals with Severe and Chronic Psychopathology (ISCP), and Clinical Health Psychology across the Lifespan (HCPALS).

In addition to our Psy.D. program, we have a large undergraduate major. We strive to work collaboratively both within and between programs in psychology, and more broadly in the inter-professional education efforts in the College of Professional Sciences.

Our faculty teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and typically have a 3/3 teaching load. Additional activities include establishing an independent research program, research mentoring at the graduate and undergraduate levels including supervision of empirical Psy.D. dissertations, service within the School of Psychology, and providing clinical supervision to Psy.D. students. Clinical supervision typically involves directly training and overseeing therapeutic and/or assessment services provided by Psy.D. students to members of the Xavier student body in our on-campus training clinic.

The position is to replace a retiring faculty and we invite clinical and counseling psychologists of various theoretical orientations and areas of expertise to apply. We are particularly interested in applicants who view themselves as scientist-practitioners, in terms of valuing balance across domains, and those who can contribute to the School of Psychology in any of the following ways:

1. Advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives;
2. Teaching research methods courses at the undergraduate level;
3. Possessing expertise in substance use, abuse, and addiction;
4. Possessing expertise in eating disorders.

In addition to describing their professional expertise, applicants are encouraged to articulate how their lived experience would contribute to a diverse and multicultural community within the School of Psychology.
