Job Description Summary

The School of Sciences and Humanities at the Wentworth Institute of Technology seeks to fill multiple open rank full-time regular-track faculty positions in Physics to start in January 2023 and September 2023 .

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
We are looking for colleagues who will help us grow and develop the sciences program at Wentworth. This could mean expanding our minors, creating new majors, or simply developing unique classes that appeal to our student body. Our ideal candidate is forward-looking, motivated by the opportunity to build a modern science program, excited to share their vision with our team.

The Sciences program at Wentworth is a multidisciplinary collaboration between faculty in physics, chemistry, and biology. We offer foundational courses for students throughout the University alongside advanced courses for engineers, our disciplinary minors, and Bachelor of Science in Applied Sciences ( BSAS ) majors. BSAS is a young, interdisciplinary major launched in 2019. We seek colleagues eager to contribute to the growth and development of this and future programs of study in the sciences.

Faculty will be responsible for instructing physics at the undergraduate level. This includes introductory algebra- and calculus-based courses, rotating electives, and selected upper-level courses. Faculty teach three units in both the Fall and Spring semesters. Summer teaching and work is optional. While the University’s primary mission is teaching, faculty are also expected to engage in scholarly work and service to the institute. Successful applicants will plan to conduct scholarly work with meaningful student involvement and with the resources typical of a small institution. All fields of physics will be considered, and faculty are encouraged to explore interdisciplinary work both within the sciences and beyond.

Review of applications will begin on November 1, but applications received after that date may be considered until the positions are filled.
