Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor in Public Relations

Penn State Abington is hiring a Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor in Public Relations, to begin August 2023. This is a 3 year, full-time (36-week), non-tenure track appointment with the possibility for renewal. The person hired for this position will join four other full-time faculty members in a well-established, four-year degree program in Corporate Communication serving approximately 80-100 declared majors.

Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Public Relations or a closely related area
  • Record of effectively working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated commitment to innovative, engaging, and student-centered learning and teaching that is responsive to the needs of diverse students in a major metropolitan area

Responsibilities:
  • Teach four assigned courses (12 credits) each semester using traditional, hybrid, and/or fully online delivery modes
  • Advise and provide career guidance to students
  • Participate in program, campus, and university service activities

An ideal candidate will have documented effectiveness in university-level teaching and/or corporate training. In addition, they will have full or part-time experience as a public relations professional, a strong network in the greater Philadelphia public relations community, and a record of effectively using social media on behalf of clients.

Located roughly 15 miles north of Philadelphia, Penn State Abington College serves a diverse student body of around 3,200 undergraduates, including a significant proportion of first-generation, nontraditional, and international students.
