Cloud Systems Engineer

Under the direction of the Associate Director for Enterprise Technologies, the Cloud Systems Engineer (Managing Assistant Director II) will support, analyze, administer and deploy solutions to drive technology modernization and the incorporation of industry best practices with an emphasis on migrating to a cloud computing environment where applicable. This position will primarily contribute to the efforts of Data Center to Cloud-based infrastructure that envision future state technologies, delivering increased agility, scalability, performance, and resiliency of production systems. The Cloud Systems Engineer is also responsible for operating, monitoring, deploying, documenting, patching and troubleshooting core system infrastructure such as server operating systems, server hardware, virtualization platforms, storage arrays and applications; and does related work as required. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours as needed.

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree, two years of professional experience in a multi-platform enterprise environment and experience with public clouds such as Azure or AWS is required. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute experience on a year-for-year basis. Preferred qualifications include: a Bachelor’s degree in the field of IT or a related area; three years of relevant experience; Azure/AWS/cloud certifications; advanced knowledge of virtualization and containerization technologies such as VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, Docker or Kubernetes to manage virtualized workloads; and knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python or Bash. Candidate must have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both highly-technical and non-technical audiences. Physical requirements include the ability to lift and move equipment up to 20 pounds.
