The Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences at Northwestern
University invites applications for an advanced teaching-track
continuing faculty (non-tenure eligible) position and inaugural
Director of the Weinberg College Language Resource Center. This is
a renewable, full-time appointment to begin September 1, 2023. The
successful candidate will be appointed in one of the Weinberg
College Language Departments or Programs and will serve for a
renewable 3-year term as the inaugural Director of the Weinberg
College Language Resource Center. Candidates must have: a Ph.D. and
extensive experience in administration and teaching a second
language and/or linguistics at the university level as well as
native or near-native command of a language other than English, and
a professional-level of proficiency in English. We are particularly
interested in candidates with expertise in second language
acquisition and pedagogy including a deep familiarity with current
theories and methods of instruction, assessment, and technologies
devoted to language acquisition and cultural learning at all levels
and for a wide range of languages (both commonly and less-commonly
taught).
Materials should include a cover letter, CV, a statement of teaching philosophy, student course evaluations (minimum of 6 from different terms/courses if possible), three contacts for letters of recommendation (at least one of which must address excellence in teaching), and a statement addressing past and/or potential contributions to program development and enhancing diversity, equity, and/or inclusion through teaching, administration, and/or research.
