Visiting Assistant Professor of Religion

Augustana University Department of Religion, Philosophy, and Classics invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor beginning in August 2023. This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal for a second year, contingent on funding. The department seeks to hire a scholar and teacher with expertise in Native American or Indigenous Religions as well as in Christianity. A doctoral degree in religion, theology, or similar discipline is required.

Successful applicants will demonstrate strong commitment to excellent teaching in a liberal arts environment and to mentoring undergraduate students, including in advising, research and pre-professional clinical experience. The candidate will be expected to teach religion courses to both majors and non-majors. Candidates must be able to teach Religion 110: Exploring the Christian Faith, a required class for all Augustana students, and can expect to teach 3-4 sections of Religion 110. Teaching load is 3 classes in the Fall and Spring and 1 course in January term.
