Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Neuroscience beginning in July 2023.

Candidates should have a PhD in Neuroscience or a related field, a strong commitment to teaching excellence, and ongoing scholarly engagement. The teaching requirement is five courses per year. Courses will include regular contributions to the department’s core courses (Introductory Neuroscience, Research Methods in Neuroscience), and additional intermediate and advanced courses. We welcome and encourage the development of new courses that reflect the candidate’s interest and expertise. The Neuroscience Department is interdisciplinary with several members appointed in other departments (Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, Philosophy, and Anthropology). The Department and the College support and encourage interdisciplinary work; therefore, an ideal candidate’s work could attract students from outside the discipline, including those in the affiliated departments as well as those in the arts and humanities.

A complete application will be composed of 1) a cover letter; 2) a Curriculum Vitae; 3) a ~2-page statement of the applicant's teaching philosophy that addresses experiences with and plans for teaching diverse student populations with inclusive pedagogy; 4) a ~2-page statement of the applicant’s research and scholarship; 5) an unofficial graduate transcript; and 6) contact information for three professional references. All application materials must be submitted electronically through Kenyon's employment website: http://careers.kenyon.edu

Review of applications will begin December 15, 2022, and will continue until the position is filled. Completed applications received by the December 15, 2022 deadline will be guaranteed full consideration. Please direct questions regarding the position or the application process to Sarah Petersen, Search Committee Chair (petersens@kenyon.edu).
