Assistant/Associate Clinical/Teaching Professor

About the Opportunity

The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Northeastern University invites applications from highly motivated candidates for a full-time Assistant or Associate Clinical/Teaching Professor faculty position commensurate with experience. This position is a non-tenure track appointment in the Department of Pharmacy and Health Systems Sciences, with an emphasis in integrated skills-focused lab instruction including simulation and interprofessional education.

Responsibilities:

This position would have responsibilities overseeing pharmacy practice labs. The faculty member would work closely with the Office of Academic Affairs and Assessment, the Simulation Center Director, and subject matter experts to develop the skills of pharmacy students in the PharmD curriculum in accordance with accreditation standards. The faculty member would be responsible for incorporating innovative pedagogical methods of teaching and learning; developing and providing authentic assessment and feedback; and expanding upon interprofessional education opportunities within the Bouve College of Health Sciences, Northeastern University, and surrounding Boston-area institutions. The faculty member would also provide didactic teaching, participate in service to the department and school and college, and engage in scholarship of teaching and learning. All School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences faculty are expected to exemplify a collegial, interprofessional academic community characterized by communication, transparency, and commitment, as well as inclusiveness, diversity, and respect—all core values at Northeastern University.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates will hold a PharmD degree, be board certified (BCPS or BCACP), have completed American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) accredited immunization training, and have completed a residency or academic fellowship or have at least 4 years of experience in education and pharmacy practice by the employment start date. Teaching expertise, particularly lab instruction and interprofessional education, is highly desired. Candidates must be eligible for pharmacist licensure in Massachusetts by the employment start date successfully obtain Massachusetts pharmacist license within 60 days of employment start date.

Preferred Qualifications (but not required):

Candidates with the following experience are strongly encouraged to apply:
  • Pharmacy residency training or academic fellowship
  • Experience with experiential and didactic teaching within a school or college of pharmacy
  • Practice lab and simulation experience
  • Interprofessional education experience
  • Board certification (BCPS or BCACP)
  • American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) accredited immunization training
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal teamwork skills
  • Significant knowledge and expertise in advanced pharmacy practice and evidence-based medicine
  • Significant general clinical knowledge and expertise in traditional therapeutics and patient-centered care
