The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) invites applications, nominations, and expressions of interest for the position of Vice Provost for Enrollment Management.

Founded in 1962, UVI is a historically Black publicly supported land-grant institution in the United States Virgin Islands. Approximately 1,650 students are enrolled at UVI’s two campuses: the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix and the Orville E. Kean Campus on St. Thomas. The institution offers 48 undergraduate and graduate degree programs across its six colleges and schools: College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, College of Science and Mathematics, School of AgricultureSchool of Business, School of Education, and School of Nursing. Additionally, through UVI Online, courses and programs are offered in a 100% online format.

UVI lies in the heart of the beautiful Caribbean. Although UVI is located in one of the most popular vacation spots in the world, it offers far more than just sun, sand, and sea. The UVI experience is uniquely multicultural, international, entrepreneurial, and intellectually stimulating. UVI provides a vital and exciting environment for educating future leaders of the global 21st century community.

Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management (VPEM) will develop, lead, and execute the vision and strategy that will cultivate optimum enrollment levels in alignment with the university’s mission and strategic plan. The VPEM will bring a strategic and innovative approach to the practice of enrollment management at the university, fostering a culture that values data-informed decision making, creativity, systems thinking, and exceptional customer service. The VPEM will be a key member of the President’s cabinet and Provost’s executive leadership team, a liaison to the Board of Trustees regarding enrollment matters, and a highly collaborative partner to senior leaders regarding student recruitment, retention, graduation, and success. As UVI’s chief enrollment officer and strategist, the VPEM will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the university maintains a comprehensive enrollment plan, that all related processes are optimally structured and effectively managed, and that UVI achieves its overarching goals and priorities.

The VPEM will oversee the areas of financial aid, recruitment and admissions, registration and student records, and have broad oversight for student success services. The VPEM will develop marketing plans for on-ground and online programs; establish targets, strategies, and tactics to significantly increase enrollment; oversee responsibility and leadership for certification of graduates; and represent the Provost in a variety of administrative and managerial functions. As part of the broader enrollment management efforts, the VPEM will provide oversight for the Director for the Center for Student Success and will work collaboratively with Institutional Research with respect to data collection and analysis and reporting of information on enrollment and related areas.

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing existing policies and practices that impact enrollment, retention, financial aid, and the work of Enrollment Services and Student Success and for developing and implementing new policies and best practices. This person will also advise the Provost on matters related to enrollment services and develop mechanisms and networks to ensure quality control and positive outcomes. The VPEM will supervise 28 staff employees, including six direct reports, and manage a $3.5 million budget.

This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and collaborative leader who will bring a strategic and innovative approach to the practice of enrollment management at UVI, managing the complex interplay of marketing and recruiting strategies, enrollment goals and revenue targets, yield strategies and tactics, financial aid, and student success. Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred), successful and progressive professional and leadership experiences suitable for appointment at the vice provost level, and demonstrated success in planning, developing, and implementing comprehensive enrollment management initiatives while collaborating effectively with senior leaders and a broad array of internal and external constituencies.

Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. For fullest consideration, application materials should be received by November 11, 2022.
