Position Summary
The Student Engagement Coordinator supports the Division of Development and Alumni Relations’ goal to increase philanthropic education and action among students at UGA. This position specifically oversees the management, planning and implementation of initiatives dedicated to strengthening the operation and function of the Student Alumni Council. The Student Engagement Coordinator will be expected to build and maintain strong relationships with DAR colleagues, as well as campus departments to ensure the growth of the student engagement program and the advancement of the Student Alumni Council within the campus community. In addition, this position will manage various day-to-day student and administrative needs and report to the Senior director of Student Engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least a baccalaureate degree
  • Degree in higher education, student affairs, or non-profit leadership
  • Experience working with and managing volunteers
  • Experience mentoring, advising, and coaching student leaders in higher education
  • Experience managing marketing efforts and communications to an external audience
  • Experience planning and executing various sized events
  • Fundraising and nonprofit experience

Duties/Responsibilities

  • (50%) Student Volunteer Management: Develop strategy and annual goals for targeted student engagement initiatives by overseeing the management, planning, implementation, and follow-up of student volunteer needs, specifically needs pertaining to the Alumni Association student ambassador group, the Student Alumni Council.
  • (15%) Student Employee Management: Hire, train, and supervise student employee(s) for the Student Engagement department, including graduate assistant(s), student worker(s), and intern(s)
  • (10%) Student Engagement Administration: Support Office of Student Engagement and Department of Alumni Relations operations. Manage and oversee allocated budgets pertaining to Student Alumni Council and general student engagement office operations
  • (10%) Student Engagement Collaboration: Cultivate strategic partnerships in the division and on campus to advance the mission of Student Engagement and DAR
  • (10%) Student Engagement Programming: Assist with execution of Student Engagement, Alumni Association, and UGA events, and attend events as assigned
  • (5%) Student Engagement Support
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Competencies
  • Demonstrated experience in database management, customer service and timely communications.
  • Demonstrates excellent time management and the ability to prioritize multiple competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience in volunteer management and event planning.
  • Exemplary communications skills (both written and verbal). 
  • Demonstrates a commitment to outstanding customer service. 
  • Demonstrated computer competency and knowledgeable of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and social media outlets. 
  • Exhibits behavior that supports the mission, vision, and values of the University of Georgia.
  • Communicates and employs interpersonal actions that model high standards of professional, responsible, accountable, and ethical conduct.
  • Through open, honest, and respectful communication, all staff, supervisors, and colleagues of the Division of Development & Alumni Relations are expected to interact with fairness, compassion, and decency.   • Adherence to CASE standards and commonly accepted industry standards relating to fundraising reporting are expected of all fundraisers. All fundraisers will be held accountable for meeting this expectation.
