The Department of Special Education at the University of Utah (https://special-ed.utah.edu/ ) seeks an outstanding individual for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in Special Education. The individual will conduct research, teaching, and service associated with students with disabilities, with specific expertise in (a) differentiating instruction and assessment practices within a multi-tiered system of supports (i.e., Tiers 1, 2, and 3) and (b) advanced applied behavior analysis (ABA) with a focus on multi-tiered behavioral/instructional supports for children and adults with disabilities in a variety of settings, including public schools. The individual will engage in transdisciplinary research with an ABA focus ranging from more targeted evaluation of instructional and behavioral strategies for students with disabilities to assessing broader impacts of programmatic professional development in schools, districts, and agencies, and behavioral practices within a multi-tiered system of supports. In this work, the individual will also conduct research, teaching, and service that may emphasize partnerships with the health sciences and psychology. 

The Department of Special Education is aligned with the University of Utah's mission in interdisciplinary research (supporting the goal to develop and transfer new knowledge) and engage multiple communities to support improvements in their quality of life. Preference will be given to candidates who have

  • A minimum of three years of experience in the assessment, instruction, and behavioral support of students with a range of disabilities in public school or similar settings, 
  • Demonstrated success in or a strong potential for interdisciplinary collaboration and scholarship, and 
  • Experience working with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
