The University of Arkansas seeks applications for the position of 9-month, Tenure-Track Assistant Professor (R0024356) in the School of Social Work. The Assistant Professor of Social work will maintain a portfolio of scholarship and research related to social work education; teach a full cadre of social work courses; and actively participate in service in the School, the College, the University as well as the local, state and national social work community.

The Assistant Professor: teaches in both the graduate and undergraduate social work programs; advises BSW and MSW students; and maintains an active agenda of scholarship and or research, which includes social work-based research/training projects and ongoing scholarly publications.

The Assistant Professor will participate in school, college, and university committees. Additionally, value is placed on participation in community service at the local, state and national level. Grant-funded research is encouraged and supported by the university. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

 Required Qualifications:  MSW from CSWE-accredited School of Social Work and Doctorate degree in Social Work or a closely related field; ABD doctoral candidates will be considered (doctorate to be completed in the first year of employment); At least two years post-MSW practice experience.

Preferred Qualifications:  Prior teaching experience in higher education, with the ability to teach across the curriculum; Online teaching experience.

Job Duties: Candidate will teach BSW and/or MSW classes each semester. Candidate is also expected to provide service to the School and community and maintain research agenda.

Knowledge, Ability, and Skills: Computer literacy and practical knowledge of current technology; Strong commitment to effective teaching; Ability to teach introductory and advanced-level classes; Knowledge of social work history, theory, and practice concepts;
