Adjunct Faculty in Art - Graphic Design

Job Summary

The Department of Art at Elmhurst University in the greater Chicago area is looking for an experienced adjunct faculty member to teach in-person Graphic Design courses in the Spring 2023 semester.

Adjunct faculty will teach one or more graphic design courses at 200-level and above. The successful candidate will have professional experience in graphic design and be knowledgeable of emerging technologies and trends. Available courses for the Spring 2023 semester include Typography Studio and UX/UI Design.

Responsibilities include course preparation, teaching, grading, and being available to students who have questions or require assistance.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Terminal degree in graphic design, communication design, interactive design or equivalent (or completed by February 1st, 2023).
• The candidate should possess the academic credentials and professional experience necessary to teach courses in graphic design.
• Minimum of one-year college-level teaching experience
• Online portfolio showcasing professional experience in graphic design
• Proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud software specifically: Illustrator, Photoshop, & Adobe XD (or Figma)

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
