Job Summary
The College of Business at Central State University is growing and currently has a need for a qualified and experienced assistant or associate professor in Business Administration in the Management concentration. All the undergraduate programs in the COB are ACBSP accredited. Plans include seeking accreditation for the newly initiated online MBA program which began during the 2021-2022 academic year. 

The assistant/associate professor position at Central State University is a member of the bargaining unit and subject to the provisions of the current Association of University Professors (AAUP/CSU) contract. The college is seeking a tenure-track, full-time faculty member who is interested in the continued growth of the Management Concentration and the development of the students who are served by the institution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teaching in-person, hybrid, and online courses in the content area related to Business Administration and Management. This includes teaching courses in the Business core curriculum which are also a part of the general education curriculum for the university. Faculty members must be able to create course syllabi, evaluate submissions from students, and accurately evaluate students’ progress in their courses.
  • Student advising is a fundamental component of the success of traditional college students. All full-time faculty members are assigned a group of students to advise after their freshman year through to graduation. Faculty members generally meet with each advisee at least twice a year to advise on degree progression, career prospects, experiential opportunities including internships, and to assure that the professional growth of the student is taking place. 
  • Faculty members are responsible for building and maintaining curriculum in their respective disciplines. This requires that faculty members stay current in the subject matter and work with the College Curriculum Committee to ensure currency and relevancy of the courses and associated degree programs.
  • Faculty members are expected to participate in professional academic activities including conducting and presenting research, writing and publishing articles in academic journals, writing and serving on funded grants, and other activities that bring favorable notoriety for the academic reputation of the institution.
  • Faculty members are expected to provide service to the department, college, and university by participating on committees, working collaboratively with other faculty on schedule development, marketing events, student and faculty recruitment, retention efforts, and other activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree required; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified in the industry. o Completed degree(s) must be from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Faculty members must be certified by the Center for Instructional Technology and Innovation (CITI) to teach online courses during the first semester with the university.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  •  Knowledge of assessment methodologies, practices, and principles. 
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Experience or ability to work effectively with diverse populations of faculty, staff, and students.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned terminal degree in Management or Business Administration with a concentration in Management. 
  • Five or more years of experience in the teaching discipline. 
  • Experience in developing and teaching online courses. 
  • Demonstrated ability to generate grant proposals. 
  • A record of published research in peer-reviewed journals.
