Assistant Professor, Tenure or Teaching Track, Computer Science
Gannon University's School of Engineering and Computer Science seeks an Assistant Professor of Computer Science. The appointment for this nine-month tenure-track (or teaching-track) position begins in January or August 2023. The ideal candidate is committed to excellence in innovative undergraduate education, will have experience in two or more of the following topic areas: distributed systems, comparative languages, operating systems, algorithms, cloud computing, and/or database systems, as well as the ability to teach in the core computing curriculum. Competency in teaching project-based learning course in various topics and ability to adapt to changing course load is a plus. The successful candidate will teach in Computer Science and related areas of computer and information science at the undergraduate and graduate levels; lead student projects, prepare motivated students intellectually, professionally, and personally; and advise students. One of the exciting opportunities with this position is to engage in the growing number of international exchanges and projects.

Qualified candidates for tenure-track will be expected to engage in scholarly activities in keeping with the Boyer Model of Scholarship as is appropriate to the application and receipt of tenure and promotion at Gannon. Requirements for tenure-track include a Ph.D. (completed by January or August 1, 2023) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related computing field; requirements for teaching-track include a M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related computing field. Prior teaching experience in higher education is preferred.
