The Personal Growth and Counseling Center (PGCC) invites applications for an SSPAR II (Counselor/MSW Training Program Coordinator) position, with a preferred start date of November 15, 2021. PGCC is the only designated counseling service for students and functions as a comprehensive counseling center for a campus population of over 7,000 students. The center prides itself on proactive efforts to create a caring community across the campus as a whole, and has a longstanding reputation for innovation and excellence in the full range of counseling center functions, including clinical service delivery, prevention, outreach and training.

Notable features of this center include a strong commitment to training mental health professionals (Pre-Doctoral and MSW), a vibrant and growing group therapy program, highly creative outreach and consultation efforts, and a commitment to diversity, inclusion and social justice.

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the skills and creativity to provide leadership within our organization and who would complement our team. We seek a seasoned expert who brings well-developed therapy skills, as well as a strong commitment to the training and development of social work professionals. The person in this position will serve as the department’s Coordinator of the MSW Training Program. This position will report to the Director of Health and Wellness Services. Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Clinical: brief individual and group counseling, assessment, crisis intervention; on call coverage.

• Training: provide Training and Supervision to MSW trainees from local Graduate Social Work Programs placed within Health & Wellness Services (PGCC, Student Disability Resources and Campus Health Center)

• Administrative: Coordinate all administrative tasks for the MSW Training program. Duties to include: recruit, interview & evaluate trainees; liaison with the Graduate Social Work programs; manage all paperwork and documentation required by SW programs; participate in the Alliance for University and College Counseling Center Social Work Training; coordinate with Center’s Training Lead/Pre-Doctoral Program as appropriate; evaluation and expansion of MSW Training Program

• Consultation: consultation to students, faculty, staff, parents and student organizations; represent PGCC to the University.

The successful candidate must have a demonstrated commitment to advancing the vision of a culturally competent counseling center and have a willingness to work with underserved and underrepresented student populations. Finally, we seek a colleague who would strive to work collaboratively with peers, both within the unit and across the campus, who has strong interpersonal skills and who enjoys building positive working relationships with others. This candidate would work closely with the Training Lead on development of the training program, discussing funding needs, and collaborating between other training programs within the center.



Minimum Qualifications:

3. Minimum of three to five (3-5) years providing supervision and training to graduate students or mental health professionals.4. Minimum of three to five (3-5) years providing individual and group therapy in a community or clinic setting.

Employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation. This position is 40 hours a week based on the academic year calendar.

There are components of this job which are deemed essential on campus. This position will primarily work on the main campus, with occasional work from home. This position requires working on campus with students. The health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff remain our highest priority. In the fall, students, faculty, staff, and the community can expect that masks will be required and that the appropriate degree of social distancing will be in place in all areas based on evolving guidance. Additionally, all students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to be vaccinated before coming to campus.
