Position Announcement: C.B. Smith Professor/Associate Professor of Hotel Management

Position Available: Fall 2023

Principle Duties: Applications and nominations are invited for the position of C.B. Smith Professor/Associate Professor of Hotel Management at the White Lodging-J.W. Marriott, Jr. School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM). The individual that holds the C.B. Smith professorship will teach lodging-related courses at undergraduate and graduate levels and conduct leading edge research for the lodging industry. In addition, the individual is also expected to actively establish and maintain relationships/partnerships with the lodging industry and professional communities. The C.B. Smith Professor will have the opportunity to lead the Center for the Study of Lodging Operations. The Center seeks to advance the lodging industry at the local, national, and international level using translational research to explicate industry issues and challenges.              

 

Qualifications: We are looking for an academic leader and scholar with a strong commitment to the discovery, learning, and engagement missions of the School. Applicants must have scholarly credentials commensurate with the rank of a Tenured Full/Associate Professor, a PhD with specialization in HTM or related discipline, a strong record of published research and external funding, as well as prior experience in the lodging Industry. With a track record of teaching excellence, the successful candidate will be someone with a balance of academic research skills and industry networking capability that will advance both the School and students.
