Position Summary

The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain an externally funded research program, to teach in the undergraduate and graduate programs in Environmental Health Science (including the BS, MS, MPH, and PhD in environmental health science). The candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in industrial hygiene, environmental and occupational diseases, or occupational health and safety. The position is available August 2023.

Minimum Qualifications

A terminal (doctorate) degree in a discipline related to public health, epidemiology, or toxicology with an emphasis in occupational health and safety.

Additional Requirements

One year of postdoctoral training in a discipline related to public health, epidemiology, or toxicology with an emphasis in occupational health and safety.

To be eligible for tenure upon appointment, candidates must be appointed as an Associate Professor, have been tenured at a prior institution, and bring a demonstrably national reputation to the institution. Candidates must be approved for tenure upon appointment before hire.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification

Appointment at the Associate Professor position requires evidence of an independent research program supported by external funding (principal investigator status with ongoing funding is preferred).

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

We seek applicants with a strong academic record in research, teaching, and service in environmental health, preferably focusing on chronic health effects of industrial or occupational chemical toxicants in the working environment and mechanistic studies of these toxicants.

Strong evidence of the ability to produce and communicate research via publications, evidence of excellence in teaching and working with students via previous instruction and mentorship, and a commitment to cultural diversity is required of all applicants.
