Position Summary

The Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics ( AAE ) at the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences invites applications for tenure track assistant professor in Hospitality and Food Industry Management. The initial appointment for the position will be approximately 70% instruction and 30% extension.

The Hospitality and Food Industry Management major is the one of the fastest growing programs at University of Georgia and within the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. The program engages with various on-campus facilities such as the UGA Center for Continuing Education and Hotel, State Botanical Garden of Georgia, UGA Golf Course, UGA Sanford Stadium, and UGA Dining Services for internships, experiential learning activities, and faculty and student research.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a range of undergraduate courses in hospitality and food industry management. However, preference will be given to individuals who can instruct one or more of the following courses: Hospitality Finance, Hospitality Economics, Hospitality Law, Hospitality Human Resources, and/or Hospitality Revenue Management.
  • Coordinate student internship placements.
  • Assist with recruitment, retention, and placement efforts.
  • Effectively interact with the staff of the Georgia Center (a 200-room/suite conference center located on campus) in providing a “hands-on” component to the curriculum.
  • Develop programmatic relationships with industry-related organizations and businesses in collaboration with UGA Cooperative Extension.
  • Work cooperatively with administrators, faculty, students, and industry.
  • Perform scholarly activities and services appropriate for the appointment.
The position is a 9-month, tenure-track appointment with summer funding support for coordinating student internship placements. Salary commensurate with qualifications. The start-up package is negotiable.
