Job Summary
Elmhurst University invites applications for a tenure track position in Painting and Drawing at the Assistant Professor level beginning with the 2023-24 academic year.
The Department of Art seeks candidates with an extensive knowledge of painting and drawing media, theory and critical issues in contemporary painting and drawing practice to teach undergraduate level courses. Main teaching responsibilities include introductory, intermediate, advanced and capstone courses in painting and drawing studios.
Successful candidate should be equally comfortable teaching and working with art majors and non-art majors between the related areas of painting and drawing.
Essential Functions
The teaching load is six courses per year. Candidates should be prepared to participate in academic service, including advising, admissions and recruitment events, and serving on university committees. Candidates should have a commitment to creating inclusive learning environments for a diverse student body.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
The candidate must have an MFA in Painting & Drawing or complete their MFA by September 1st, 2023. The candidate will demonstrate a robust studio practice, a national exhibition record and a strong potential for research and exhibition of creative work.
Preferred Qualifications
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work is sedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
