Position Function:

The faculty member will report to the Head of the Department of Art and teach a 3/3 course load in the graphic design area. In addition to teaching duties, the professor will be responsible for advising students and service to the department, college and university. Candidates are expected to pursue and maintain an active body of research and remain current in their area of expertise.

Salary Grade : UC

For salary grade UC, these positions are "Unclassified" and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.

Department Profile:

The Department of Art is NASAD accredited and located within the College of Architecture, Art, and Design. It has approximately 230 Art Majors, 24 full-time faculty, and offers a BFA degree with concentrations in Fine Art, Graphic Design, and Photography. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Teach a 3/3 course load in the Graphic Design area.
- Work with the other graphic design faculty to oversee curriculum and portfolio review.
- Maintain an active body of research or creative activities.
- Advise draphic design students.
- Committee service as well as other services to the department, college, university, and professional field.
- Teaching across the graphic design curriculum from introductory through advanced courses including electives.

Minimum Qualifications:

- M.F.A. or equivalent terminal degree with an emphasis in graphic design or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

- Active research, teaching, and service record that prepared the candidate to contribute to the
programming of a Research Institution.
- Strong understanding of contemporary graphic design theory and practice as well as the ability to teach a variety of graphic design courses.
- Excellent personal and collaborative skills.
- Ability to inspire students and colleagues to perform at a high level.
- Preference will be given with particular interest areas of research emphasis in areas
related to illustration, information design, publication design, branding/packaging design, analog and digital design methods, and entrepreneurship.

- Evidence of teaching experience and/or potential.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Well-rounded design experience.
