Elementary Education Field Placement Coordinator

The Education Studies Department of Skidmore College, a selective liberal arts college in Saratoga Springs, New York, invites applications for a full-time Field Placement Coordinator beginning August 1, 2023.

We welcome applications from members of groups traditionally under-represented in the field, and applicants are invited to state in their cover letter how they will enhance the diversity of offerings and educational experiences if hired.

Premised on a constructivist approach to teaching and learning, faculty in Skidmore’s Education Studies Department prepare students for initial certification in New York State, grades 1-6. In addition, the Department’s on-campus lab school, the Early Childhood Center, provides a resource for teaching and research projects.

The Field Placement Coordinator is a 10-month position. The candidate must possess an earned Master’s degree in Education. Preferred qualifications for this position include a strong commitment to social justice, experience directing or coordinating fieldwork in an Education department, teaching experience at the elementary level, teaching experience at the college level, and a strong commitment to undergraduate education within a liberal arts context.

The position also includes teaching in the candidate’s area of expertise, as well as teaching the student teaching seminar. Duties related to field placement coordination include coordinating fieldwork experiences in courses across the program, supervising students in field placements, developing and sustaining partnerships with local schools, and supporting students and faculty on initial licensure procedures and state certification exams.

Review of applications will begin November 1, 2022. Please submit a letter of application, a curriculum vitae, and names of three references. In your letter of application, please describe explicitly the nature of your commitment to and experience with under-represented groups.

Pay Range: Commensurate with experience
