Summary

The University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis (UHSP) is seeking an Athletic Eligibility and Student Success Coordinator to serve as the primary lead for the academic certification of student athletic eligibility and addressing the needs of student athletes. In this role, you will assist the Athletics department by supporting student-athletes to positively impact their collegiate experience, retention, persistence, and graduation.

In this role, you will get to:
  • Determine eligibility status by analyzing and evaluating student-athlete academic credentials in accordance with University, NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics), and sport-specific conference rules.
  • Prepare all eligibility certificates to be submitted to the NAIA by utilizing the NAIA Help database and entering academic information for each student athlete.
  • Monitor academic eligibility and academic progress of all student athletes, by partnering with the student success advisors and notify coaches and appropriate staff with any current or potential issues for the future.
  • Interpret eligibility rules for student-athletes, parents, and campus community.
  • Assist student-athletes in understanding how to maintain their eligibility and assist them in assuming responsibility for their athletic academic eligibility through one-on-one and group meetings.
  • Meet with at-risk student-athletes regularly and develop academic improvement plans, in partnership with the student success advisors and faculty advisors.
  • Assist as liaison between faculty, coaches and students when addressing academic performance concerns.
  • Work in collaboration with the Student Success and Academic Advisors, Registrar, and other support staff to address the various needs of student athletes.
  • Distribute information to the Deans office concerning student absences due to games and travel.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource to student-athletes, and make appropriate referrals, as needed.


  • Qualifications
    To succeed in this role, you will need:
  • Bachelors degree
  • Previous professional experience working in higher education
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written) with demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse populations and multiple constituencies and develop effective working relationships
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, maintain records, and prepare reports
  • Excellent computer skills and the ability to learn compliance systems
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail skills
  • Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner
  • Ability to make decisions and handle conflicts
  • Ability to work extended schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, according to demands of the role and tasks
