The University of Saint Joseph invites candidates to apply for a non-tenure track, full-time faculty position and Program Director in our Criminal Justice and Restorative Justice (CJRJ) Program. This position is scheduled to start in either January or August 2023.

The faculty and Program Director position in the Criminal Justice/Restorative Justice program is a full-time, 9 month, non-tenure track (NTT) faculty position. The rank of Assistant or Associate Professor will be assigned based on the academic and professional qualifications and experiences of the candidate. The duties of the position include:

  •  Undertake leadership of the program with support as needed
  • Teach a variety of courses related criminal justice and restorative justice, including but not limited to: Introduction to Criminal Justice, Restorative Justice Theory, Law and Ethics, and Writing for Human Service Professionals
  • Advise students with diverse interests and backgrounds in coursework/careers involving criminal and/or restorative justice
  • Perform ongoing recruitment of students for the program, working with the offices of Enrollment Management and Admissions
  • Serve on committees, and participate in department, school, and university events
  • Collaborate with university offices to promote the program to external constituencies
  • Network with organizations and agencies to develop experiential learning opportunities for students and develop assessment tools for experiential learning

Requirements:

  • Master's degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Restorative Justice, or a related field
  • College-level teaching experience is preferred
  • Field experience and leadership in the criminal justice field or a related field is preferred
  • Knowledge of restorative justice practices preferred
  • Commitment to the mission and core values of the University of Saint Joseph
  • Experience in recruiting students is preferred
  • Ability to forge and maintain ties with local and state-wide agencies
  • Cultural competency to work with diverse student and/or employee population
  • Commitment to the mission of the University of Saint Joseph
  • Physical ability to perform essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation

Additional Information:

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $65,000-$73,000 per year. Additionally, the Program Director will also receive a program director stipend. The final offer will be based on the successful candidate's qualification and experience.
