Job Summary:

Performs general clerical, receptionist and office duties in a student-centered environment. Assists department with efficiencies, electronic, and office projects. Assists division with clerical tasks supporting special projects as needed.

Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience: Must be a current Linn Benton Community College student and have a high school diploma or equivalent. General clerical or secretarial experience is preferred. Must be attending LBCC at least half time. Must maintain 2.0 GPA or higher. Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of one year’ experience in general clerical or administrative assistance is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills: Requires basic office operations knowledge and clerical skills and competencies using general office equipment including personal computers. Requires good communication, customer relations and phone skills, electronic communication, and writing skills. Familiarity with department policies and procedures is preferred.

Abilities: Must be able to perform the duties of the position efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision and following well-defined policies and procedures. Requires the ability to prepare routine or customized reports, correspondence or materials using word processing or database applications. Requires the ability to learn, understand and apply college rules, regulations and policies. Requires the ability to operate general office equipment including computers, word processing and database applications used at the college. Must have good organizational skills and be able to stay on task and complete tasks as assigned. Must be able to communicate clearly with diverse populations in a courteous manner, exercising patience, either over the phone or in person. Must be able to work respectfully with individuals from all cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Position involves long periods sitting at a computer plus light to medium work, which includes, kneeling, and carrying and lifting of light to medium weight materials (10 to 25 pounds). Must be able to operate a computer and general office equipment. Requires ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone.

Essential Duties:

1. Assists selected departments with efficiencies, electronic scanning and filing, and office projects. Collaborates with staff responsible for project or initiative.
2. Generate, receive and maintain confidential and sensitive files, information and reports and ensure
security of files.
3. Assists with reception duties in the Finance and Operations division as needed. Responds to student and staff inquiries and disseminates information to appropriate staff. Composes and types, emails, news releases, letters and other communications.
4. Provides clerical support, including word processing, file management, faxing, copying, etc. to division staff as needed. May schedule meetings and appointments.
5. Supports division staff with special projects related to improving office processes (organizing, filing, documenting, sorting, and cleaning).
6. Performs other related duties as assigned.
