Job Description:
Summary: The Financial Aid Specialist position is a full-time career service position that will provide support and counseling for federal, state, and institutional programs. This position reports to Assistant Director, Financial Aid.

Duties and Responsibilities: Provides assistance to students and other personnel during registrations. Participates and provides Financial Aid expertise for student affairs events. Reviews and processes individual student files for accuracy and completeness. Packages Financial Aid awards for students. Provides excellent customer services. Monitors and covers the call center and front window and provides assistance as needed. Counsels students and parents on all related financial aid areas. Recommends appropriate data system changes as needed. Responsible for knowing and conforming to all safety practices and regulations that apply to this specific area and position. Unsafe conditions should be reported to the immediate supervisor and to the Pensacola State College Police Department/Public Safety. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with an associate’s degree or its equivalent, two years responsible office administration experience, and demonstrated computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, etc.). College course work beyond the associate’s degree or its equivalent may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required experience. Appropriate work experience on a year to year basis may be substituted for the college degree requirement. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.

*Per F.S. 295.065 – Certain servicemembers and veterans, and the spouses and family members of such servicemembers and veterans, will receive preference and priority, and certain servicemembers may be eligible to receive waivers for postsecondary educational requirements.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

SALARY: $27,825.00 ($14.27/hour)
