Open Rank Faculty - Energy Transition and Sustainability - (FAC002701)

The William A. Brookshire Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Houston (UH) has an open-rank tenure-track faculty position and seeks to hire an outstanding scholar with research interests in the general area of Energy Transition and Sustainability. Competitive candidates are expected to have a PhD in Chemical Engineering (or closely related discipline) before joining the Department and show potential for exceptional research, excellence in teaching and service, and a clear commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. The successful candidate will be appointed at a rank commensurate with accomplishments and expertise.

We are particularly seeking faculty candidates who will develop an externally-funded research program aimed at overcoming grand challenges in the broad field of Energy Transition and Sustainability, including Biodegradable Plastics, Plastics Upcycling/Recycling and Circularity, Carbon Management, Process Electrification, Blue and Green Hydrogen and Ammonia, Electrochemical Energy Storage, Life Cycle Analysis, and Sustainable Production of Chemicals and Fuels. Desirable areas of expertise include Catalysis, Reaction Engineering, Transport Phenomena, Molecular Thermodynamics, Advanced Materials, Applied Data Science, Systems Engineering, and Biomolecular Engineering. The Department has a strong graduate program with more than 100 PhD students, modern research facilities, and annual research expenditures exceeding $10 million. The successful candidate will join a collegial group of research-oriented faculty working in a highly collaborative environment.
