Description

The Johns Hopkins University (JHU) School of Education (SOE) invites applications for an associate/full professor position on the clinical or research faculty track in the Department of Counseling and Educational Studies, beginning July 2023. The current position is designated for school or clinical mental health counseling. The SOE offers two counseling tracks, School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the master’s level, and a graduate certificate program. Both counseling tracks are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). The program enrolls approximately 200+ students annually across the two tracks. The School of Education ranks 14th among the nation’s schools of education according to the latest ranking from U.S. News and World Report.

Qualifications
  • Requirements for the position include a doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) accredited program.
  • Full-time professional counseling and supervisory experience, eligibility as a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) and/or certification as a school counselor in Maryland.
  • An established, active program of research and record of publication commensurate with rank.
  • An established record of excellent teaching and mentoring.
  • The ability to successfully teach in a highly diverse urban setting with a high population of international students.
  • Knowledge of CACREP standards and processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Specialization in Assessment and Appraisal, Group Counseling, and/or Neurocounseling.
  • Experience teaching and research in a wide range of subjects particularly school counseling courses.
  • Interest in and experience conducting research addressing equity.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
